Imphal, December 01 2023:
Manipur slumped to fifth straight loss (Group B) in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023-24 as they went down by 123 runs to Jharkhand today at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
Jharkhand won the toss and piled up a moderate total of 286 runs for 5 wickets after choosing to bat first thanks to Virat Singh's 122-ball 128 and V Vishal's unbeaten 74 off 65 deliveries.
Chasing 287 runs for the win, Manipur had a sloppy start with Varun Aaron of Jharkhand (4/27) producing a stellar bowling performance but staged a late fight back to amass 163 runs for 8 wickets on the back of an impressive 70-run 8th wicket partnership between Kishan Singha and Langlonyamba.
Langlonyamba who came in at five anchored well and was the highest run getter for Manipur with a slow but significant 118-ball 86 as Kishan Singh remained not out on 34 .
Earlier in Jharkhand's innings, Bishworjit returned with the best bowling figures of 3/25 in 8 overs as he removed opener Kumar Deobrat for 6, Kumar Kushagra for 20 and centurian Virat Singh.
Thokchom Kishan and Sultan Karim also chipped in with a wicket apiece.
