Imphal, August 25 2022: CDC, Sagolband withstood late pressure to beat UCC, Uripok by 3 wickets in the keenly contested title clash of the 6th MNCA Plate Tournament here at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.

UCC won the toss and piled up modest 206 runs for 10 in allotted 40 overs but CDC held their nerves to eclipse the total by posting a commendable 207 for 7 in 28.5 overs thanks to Ksh Robert's half century knock.

UCC started confidently with Moirangthem Satish (15) and Sagolshem Nelson (10) taking on CDC bowlers but Kshetrimayum set up M Satish oust as the later holed out to Md Ataur Rahaman at deep extra cover in the 6th over.

Mutum Jodiba then trapped Nelson lbw for 10 after 10.4 over before Roshan Das (21) had the same fate off Geerish Kangabam second delivery in the 16th over.

From teetering at 74 for 3 after 16 over, Thangjam Anson (47 off 48 balls) and Haobam Ajitkumar (50 off 66 balls) resurrected the innings by forging a 69 run fourth wicket partnership off 73 deliveries.

Ajitkumar however got run out in the 28th over before Geerish Kangabam of CDC completed his two wicket haul by trapping Duresh Sharma (4) lbw for the fifth wicket.

Mutum Jodiba then bowled out Konsam Gulson for his second wicket in the 31st over before removing Th Ansan in the 35th over to reduce UCC to 172 for 7 and stem the UCC collapse.

Khursid Alam then bowled out Thokchom Yoihenba for 11 in the 29th over before Diamond Moirangthem and Shyam Kumar Rya (12) got run outs in the last over.

Jodiba emerged the pick of the CDC bowlers with the best figures of 3/22 in 8 overs including 2 maiden overs.

In reply, CDC got off too a bright start with Shyamkumar Ray clobber two fours to amass 14 runs off Thounaojam Rakesh in the opening over but Mutum Jodiba who hit a four was trapped lbw by medium pacer Arnold Leishangthem in the fourth delivery of the 2nd over.

Thounaojam Rakesh emerged the second victim when the scoreboard read 44 as tried a lofted shot but went straight to Shyam Kumar at long-off in the 2nd delivery of the 9th over. It did not dampen the CDC chase as Md Ataur Rahaman (27 off 42 balls) and Priyojit put up a sensible third wicket stand and racked up 76 runs off 91 deliveries to take tally to 120 before Atao Rahaman was bowled out by Roshan Das in the 2nd delivery of the 24th over.

Thokchom Yoihenba then undone Priyojit for the fourth wicket in the 28th over to reduce CDC to 139 four 4 before Salam Pinky (4) got edged out by Gulson and RK Robindro (2-ball duck) was trapped lbw by Thokchom Yoihenba in the 32nd over.

Ksh Robert who came in for Ataur Rahaman however kept the chase alive by pairing up with Viking Salam later for an eye-catching 46 run 7th wicket partnership in just 39 balls.

When Shyam Kumar removed Ksh Robert for 53 (off 59 balls) it was too late and Viking Salam finished off the chase in the first delivery of the 39th over with a brilliant six over the long on.

Robert, who anchored for CDC and picked a wicket earlier, eventually walked away with the man of the match award which included a cash prize of Rs 2500 and a trophy.

Winners, CDC were feted with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 and a trophy while UCC contented with Rs 70,000 and a trophy.

Mutum Jodiba of CDC also won the highest wicket taker (Rs 4,000 + Trophy) and man of the series (Rs 8,000 + Trophy) accolades for scoring 55 runs and snatching 18 wickets in as many as 6 innings.
