NESU edge NISA; RUC hold NACO in 6-goal thriller

NESU came from behind to outscore N1SA 2-1 as RUC held NACO in a six-goal thriller in the State League on Tuesday Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
In a closely contested Group B match, it was NISA who established control in the early stages and soon gained the upper hand.
Sapam Ton Singh initiated the scoring with a sublime finish in the 26th minute, leaving the NESU goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
After conceding, NESU went all out, ramping up the intensity upfront, and their efforts paid off, bringing the score level heading into the second half.
It was Yumnam Monis Singh who put his side on level terms with a 40th minute strike.
NESU then stamped their authority after the break when Phijam Sanathoi Meetei buried the ball in the back of the net 12 minutes into the second period as his team clung on to snatch all three points.
S Johny Kom scored a hat-trick to salvage a 3-3 draw for RUC against NACO in another Group B match.
NACO took the lead when Konsam Akash Singh made his effort count in the 20th minute.
Johny levelled the score in the 31st minute, only to be cancelled out by Takhenchangbam Krishnananda Sharma's effort for NACO in the 45 th minute.
But Johny was at it again as he made it all square for RUC in the 41st minute before Sekhar Tensubam Meetei regained the lead for NACO in the 50th minute.
Then Johny completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute as his heroics eventually salvaged a 3-3 draw for RUC.
