DOA Thoubal to host 1st District Olympic Games

Imphal, August 03 2025: District Olympic Association (DOA), Thoubal is set to host the 1 st District Olympic Games 2025-26 from September 24 to 28 under the supervision of the Manipur Olympic Association.

The decision to host the game was arrived at a joint meeting convened in the presence of DOA members and representatives of various district sports associations.

To successfully conduct the games featuring 16 disciplines, an organising committee comprising Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Hannah Kamei and Superintendent of Police Shivananda Surve will be constituted soon, said DOA in a press release.

The mega event to be organised with the support, guidance and patronage of various educational institutes, Governmental and non Governmental agencies is aiming to bring together around 1800 athletes who will compete in the aforementioned disciplines, it said.

Other smaller committees for smooth conduct of the games will also be constituted soon, said DOA while also seeking support and cooperation from all quarters of the society to make the event successful.

The association also expressed hope that organising such an event will surely boost Olympic movement in the district.
