Japhou YC, Lambung YCC post emphatic wins at 8th Cheengkhu Premier Cup

Imphal, July 23 2019: Japhou Youth Club and Lambung Youth CC registered huge wins in their opening matches of the 8 th Cheengkhu Premier Cup-2019 which kicked off yesterday at Mini Stadium Chandel Christian with a friendly match between Chiefs XI and Church Leaders, which ended 4-3 in favour of the first team.

The village level knockout football tournament organised by Cheenkhu Youth Club will be witnessing 15 teams compete for top honours.

Sh Marconi scored thrice in the opening match including the first two goals (2', 9', 69') to enable Japhou YC make a brilliant start to the game and a huge finish against Deeringkhu while his team mate Sh Alfred hit a brace (33', 39') before Ningbung struck the decisive goal in the 63rd minute and set up the huge 6-1 victory.

Bungdam scored the consolation goal for losing side in the 50th minute.

Elsewhere, Moshimla hit a hattrick (20', 46', 49') and Rolland netted a double (67', 83') to hand Lambung Youth CC a huge 5-1 win against Charangching Khullen team.

SK Reshangam of Charangching Khullen scored the opening goal in the 14th minute but his team failed to contain the rampaging Lambung YCC in the latter part of the game.

Yesterday in the opening friendly match, Thangtha shone for Chiefs XI as he struck thrice (17', 41', 54') and helped steer his team to a 4-3 win after Kosen found the opener early in the 7th minute.

Alpha (48'), Mowar (51') and Warshung (63') on the other hand scored for the Church Leaders in a losing cause.
