PTRC, MPA script convincing wins in 1st MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament

PTRC, Patsoi extended their winning run to 3 with a 140 run thrashing ofTCMDC, Thongju at their home ground as MPA, Thounaojam capped 1st MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament Group campaign by stunning YWC, Langthabal with a 151 run victory at PCC ground, Mayaikoibi.
In the 15th match of the tournament staged at PTRC ground, the home team won the toss and piled up 255 for 4 in 30 allotted overs and bowled out TCMDC for 115 runs for the third straight victory.
PTRC's Salam Richie shone with a blistering knock of 103 runs off 91 balls (10 fours and 2 sixes) as Stoneson starred with a brilliant 27 ball 47 knock which included 2 fours and 5 sixes.
Laitonjam James (24) and Robinson Sougaijam (20) also played their part in this innings which saw TCMDC bowlers spilling 50 run extras.
Sagolshem Rojesh of the Thongju team returned with the best bowling figures of 2/34 in 5 overs as Laishram Valindra and Rain Urikhinbam picked up a wicket apiece.
In the chase, TCMDC got off to a stuttering start and slumped to 63 for 6 in 9.5 overs before they succumbed within 22.3 overs when the scoreboard read 115.PTRC's Laitonjam James (2/ 28), Benson Yumnam (2/27), Bush Sagolshem (2/18) and Ngambarel Naoshekpam (2/11) all shared two wickets apiece to keep things tight and Henba Paonam snatched a wicket.
Salam Richie who hit a ton was eventually named man of the match.
Elsewhere at PCC ground-Mayaikoibi, MPA amassed 212 runs for 7 wickets in 30 overs and defended their total with clinical bowling efforts to hold YWC to 61 all out in 15.5 overs for the second win in 5 matches.
MPA had a slow start and Morambam Chongtham (41) gave the earlier flourish before Chongtham Yiodish top-scored with 39-ball 76 courtesy 9 fours and 6 sixes.
The innings saw YWC's Yumnam Athouba (3/29 in 6 overs) and Yumnam Achouba (3/37 in 6 overs) enjoying three wicket hauls and Pukhrambam Bonison pick a wicket conceding 44 runs in 4 overs.
Their chase was however a disastrous one as MPA's Chinglensana (2/15) and Suraj Mutum (3/16 in 3 overs) made things easy by removing the top four batters after Sorokhaibam Thoungamba (3) got run out for the first wicket in the third over.
The slump continued with Soram Dayananda, Suraj Mutum and Moramba Chongtham removing a wicket each before Chingtham Albish took the honour to sweep the last two wickets to emerge with the bowling figures of 2/7 in 1.5 overs.
Chongtham Yiodish of MPA who hit a half century was adjudged man of the match.
