3rd Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2021-22 : RCA Lilong beat PCC Mayai Koibi to clinch title

Imphal, February 24 2022: RCA Lilong was crowned the winner of the 3rd MNCA U-16 Boy's Naorem Rajninthou Memorial Trophy 2021-22 after beating PCC Mayai Koibi by 45 runs at the final match today.

At the final match played between RCA and PCC at Heinoupok Playground today, RCA won the toss and elected to bat first.

Opening the inning with Naesh Hussain, Md Safwan Ahamed returned to the pavilion after adding just 11 runs off 24 balls as he was caught by Laitonjam Anjan.

Coming in to bat at number 3, skipper Zamir Khan added 28 runs off 35 balls before he was stumped by Max Warokpam on Pravin Kumar's ball.

Other batsmen, Md Rufaat and Md Sharif suffered a 'golden duck' (bowled by Mairembam Lucky and Takhelmayum Vikash)), Md Sohail Khan added just 2 runs off 3 balls, Md Akip Hussain 1 run off 3 balls and Kh Awesh Shah 2 runs off 8 balls (not out) .

The major share of RCA's 171 runs in 30 overs with a fall of 7 wickets were scored by Naesh Hussain and Md Aqeel.

Naesh scored 52 runs off 76 balls before he was sent back to the pit by Takhelmayum Vikash while Md Aqeel scored an impressive knock of 55 runs in just 39 balls (not out) .

PCC's bowler Takhelmayum Vikash took 3 wickets in 6 overs and gave 22 runs while Mairembam Lucky took 2 wickets in 6 overs and gave away 20 runs.

Pravin Kumar took 1 wicket in 5 overs and gave away 32 runs.

Ajay Mahto (19 runs in 5 overs), Ch Paikhomba (16 runs in 1 over), Laitonjam Anjan Singh (46 runs in 6 overs) and Lamnganba Nongmaithem (10 runs in 1 over) helped PCC in restricting RCA to 171 runs.

Opening the second inning with T Vikash, N Prashanta returned to the pit after scoring just 2 runs in 18 balls as Md Sohail took an easy catch on Imtiyas Khan's spell.

T Vikash also fell victim early on as Danish Khan caught his wicket on Md Aqeel's ball.

He had added just 10 runs off 23 balls.

Max Warokpam, who came in number 3 was also the 3rd wicket, as he was caught behind the wicket on Naesh Hussain's ball after adding just 8 runs in the board in 6 balls.

PCC batting line up fell victim one after another as RCA bowlers battered them.

Mairembam Lucky (21 runs off 32 balls), Dilshan Oinam (1 run off 6 balls), Laitonjam Anjan (0 off 2 balls), Ajay Mahto (16 runs off 28 balls); Pravin Kumar (9 runs off 24 balls), Lamnganba Nongmaithem (0 run off 5 balls), Ch Paikhomba (4 runs off 2 balls) failed to reach the set target of 172 runs as they ended the run with just 126 in the scoreboard with majority of it coming from 55 extras.

Naesh Hussain (3 wickets in 6 overs and 30 runs), Zamir Khan (3 wickets in 4.5 overs and 28 runs), Md Aqeel (1 wicket in 5.1 overs and 8 runs), Imtiyas Khan (1 wicket in 4 overs and 25 runs), Md Akip Hussain (1 wicket in 3.1 overs and 22 runs) and Md Danish (4 runs in 1 overs), restricted PCC batsmen from scoring any impressive knock.

Naesh Hussain of RCA won the 'Man of the Match' title.

He was also adjudged the 'most emerging player' of the tournament.

PCC's Takhemayum Vikash won the 'Man of the Series' title as well as the "highest wicket taker" (179 runs and 23 wickets in 7 innings); Thoiba Ningthoujam of YUCC was the highest run scorer of the tournament (278 runs in 5 innings) .
