UTA crowned overall team champions of 1st Manipur State Poomsae Taekwondo Championship

Imphal, October 23 2026: Union Taekwondo Academy (UTA) have been crowned the overall team champions of the 1st Manipur State Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2026 organised under the aegis of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak.

UTA sealed the overall team title with a haul of 11 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals as Kangla Taekwondo Academy (KTA) finished first runners up with 7 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medals and National Sports Academy (NSA) finished second runners up with 1 gold and 4 bronze medals.

UTA were cadet team champions securing 3 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals as KTA bagged 2 gold and 3 silver medals to settle for the runners up title.

KTA meanwhile sealed the junior team title with 3 gold and 1 silver medal as UTA finished runners up with 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

UTA also won the senior team title with 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals as KTA bagged 1 silver and 4 bronze medals to finish runners up.

The championship came to a close in the presence of Rajeev Singh Thakur, Chief Secretary, Govt of Manipur; Naorem Praveen, Secretary YAS; Grand Master Jun Lee, 9 DAN, president Global Traditional Taekwondo Federation (GTTF); Dr Mayengbam Veto, Director YAS; Heoake Lee, vice president GTTF; Grandmaster Abhay Singh Rathore, 9 DAN, vice president GTTF; Hwang Kyung-Seon, Olympic medallist and Thokchom Jasobanta, president All Manipur Taekwondo Association as dignitaries.
