Wattaba Meitei claims four medals at National Track Cycling Championship

Imphal, November 19 2024:
Mayanglambam Wattaba Meitei pedalled his way to four medals, including a gold, as Manipur ended their campaign with 14 medals at the 76th Senior, 53rd Junior & 39th Sub-Junior National Track Cycling Championship 2024, which wrapped up on Tuesday in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Manipur finished runners-up in the competition.
Kakching Wairi Khullakpam Leikai, Wattaba Meitei's remarkable performance included one gold and three silver medals over the course of the competition.
Wattaba won the gold medal in the men's junior 2km keirin event, while he claimed his silver medals in the men's junior 200m sprint, 1km team print and 4km team pursuit.
He teamed up with K Lanchenba Singh, Thounaojam Gyananda and Walangbam Bidyanan-da in the men's junior sprint event, while Daya Keisham, Sarungbam Athouba Meitei and Tayenjam Bipil Singh joined him in the junior team pursuit event.
Manipur's other gold medal came courtesy of a stellar effort by Heikrujam Lamjingba, Huidrom Suraj Singh, Yumnam Sushil Singh and Narengbam Max who combined to clinch the gold medal in the sub-junior boys' team sprint event.
