KHFA dominate first day of 17th Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship

Imphal, October 16 2021: Mini boys' and girls' events kick-started the 17th Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship 2021 which got underway at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium on Saturday.

KHFA fencers dominated the opening day by collecting four of the six gold medals on offer in the mini boys' and girls' individual events.

In the boys' category, N Robertson (UPAA) won the epee event after defeating L Deepu (SAI) in the final as Lanchenba (KHFA) beat Richtorer (KHFA) to top the sabre event, and Tamnganba (KHFA) got the better off fellow Pamnganba (KHFA) to claim the top podium honours in the foil event.

The girls' competition saw Priyarani (SAI) bested N Pushparani (SWC) to take the epee gold while Rashina (KHFA) outshone Alish (SAI) in the foil event final, and Payal (KHFA) triumphed over fellow Henthoi (KHFA) in the gold medal match of the sabre event.

The Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship being organised by Manipur Fencing Association will run till October 20 .
