1st MNCA Super Plate Tournament : KSDO go top of Group A with emphatic 209-run victory

KSDO, Kiyamgei went top of the Group A of the ongoing 1st MNCA Super Plate Tournament after registering a comprehensive 209 run victory against THAU, Thangmeiband for the third win here at Langthabal Public Ground today.
KSDO, who lost to YWC in the previous encounter after two straight victories, stacked up a modest total of 259 runs for 8 in allotted 40 overs thanks to half centuries from Abdul Rafique and Nawaz Sharif and restricted THAU, Thangmeiband to 50 within 19.5 overs for the big win.
After Mohammed Shamir Khan (18) and Hamza (21) set the momentum, Abdul Rafique (58 off 56 balls, 6x4 and 2x6) and Nawaz Sharif (75 off 71 balls, 11x4 and 1x6) gave KSDO the middle order flourish today.
Rameez Ahamed (28) and Sangomsumpham Shah Nawaz (14) also contributed to ensure KSDO post a target of 260 runs.

THAU's medium pacers Huidrom Sanjit (3/58 in 8 overs) and Ranjan Laishram (3/54 in 8 overs) took centrestage in terms of bowling performance as Rabikanta Shanglakpam and Nicholas ended up snatching a wicket each.
In reply, THAU were taken by surprise as Shah Nazaz spun web around their batting line up and finished with the best bowling figures 5 for 13 in 8 overs which contained 5 maiden overs.
Shah Nawaz reduced THAU to 2/13 within 3.1 overs, bowling out Huidrom Sanjit and trapping S Santoshkumar leg before, both on ducks.
B Hamza then bowled out Milan Keisham on duck to make it 14/3 before Shah Nawaz dismissed S Beconboss on 5 and Ranjan Laishram on duck to complete his four wicket haul.
THAU further slipped to 32 for 6 when Hamza removed Alam Intisal on 4 after 14.5 overs.
Shah Nawaz then completed his five for removing Bigyananda yet again on duck to reduce THAU to 40/7 within 16 overs.
Rabikanta Sharma who had been trying to brace KSDO bowling pressure from the beginning of the chase holed out to Md Shamir Khan off Tarique Aziz bowling on 29 for the 8 wicket, the highest run by any THAU batters today.
Md Shamir Khan then removed Sachin on 4 and Kh Wakip Md removed Md Tarique Aziz of THAU to wrap up the innings.
Shah Nawaz of KSDO was named man of the match for his five wicket haul and unbeaten knock of 14 runs in 11 balls.
Elsewhere at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground, Khamnam Bazar, TCMDC, Thongju Part II kicked off their Group B campaign with a comprehensive 134 run victory against KASC, Khomidok.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Thongju team ride on an unbeaten half century knock from Laishram Vivekananda (52-ball 66, 5x4, 3x6) and significant contributions from Sarangthem Priyobarta (quickfire 37 off 29 balls), Leihaothabam Bijesh (44 off 46 balls) and Thongam Nganthoi (19 off 34 balls) to post 236 for 8 .
The innings saw Md Babu enjoying a three wicket haul giving 51 runs in 8 overs while Md Farijuddin scalping twice for 39 runs in 8 overs.
Md Javed Aktar, Md Arif and Bm Khan also picked up a wicket apiece.
TCMDC bowlers then top made a concerted effort to bowl out KASC for 102 within 24.3 overs to open their winning account and hand KASC second straight loss in the tourney.
Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma's slow bowling was the most effective in the KASC chase as he fetched the highest three wickets for 16 runs in 6 overs while L Vivekananda managed two wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs including KASC opener Prinobata Thokchom on 1 in the second over.
Right arm off-break bowlers, Thongam Nganthoi (2/22) and Thongam Tulajit (2/12) to hold sway over other KASC batters and finished with two wickets apiece while their compatriot Suraj Kharibam bagged a single for 23 runs in 5 overs.
Md Javed Aktar with 31 runs was the highest run getter for the Khomidok side followed by Md Ali Khan (22), Md Najir Khan (13) and Md Babu (11) as the other batters fell cheaply within 4 runs.
L Vivekananda was eventually adjudged man of the match for his half century knock and 2 wicket haul.
YWC (L) will play PTCC in the next Group A league match tomorrow at Khamnam Bazar before MPSC take on RULE in a Group B league match at Langthabal Public ground.
