Sub-junior Swimming Nationals : Lanchenba picks two gold, Bishorjit settles for bronze medal

Imphal, August 03 2025: Laitonjam Lanchenba and Leishangthem Bishorjit gave Manipur a bright start in the 51st Sub-Junior National Swimming Championship 2025 winning three medals on the opening day.

Lanchenba swam his way to the first gold medal in the boys' 200 m medley competition taking 2 minutes and 16.42 seconds before securing 50 m breaststroke title with an impressive time of 31.84 seconds.

Lanchenba, a class X student of Nongpok Maheikol, is a son of Laitonjam Kanta and Laitonjam Ongbi Sonia Devi who currently reside at Brahmapur Bheigyabati Leikai.

Leishangthem Bishorjit in the meantime earned a bronze medal finishing third in the 50 m breaststroke event taking 30.74 seconds.

The championship being hosted by Gujarat in Ahmedabad under the aegis of the Swimming Federation of India will run till August 7 .
