1st MNCA Super Plate Tournament : KCC beat PTCC by 23 runs for fourth win

Imphal, March 31 2022: KCC, Kongba Bazar notched up then-fourth win in the Group A league competition of the 1 st MNCA Super Plate Tournament as they beat PTCC, Patsoi Part III by 23 runs thanks to Loktongbam Ozzy's all-round performance.

The win helped KCC gather 8 points and close in on to KSDO, Kiyamgei who are second in the league standings (Group A) on 10 points from 6 matches after leaders YWC-L .

Even as KCC got off to a shaky start after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Nongmaithem Dijaraj Singh scored 55 off 114 balls before Loktongbam Ozzy (25 not out) and Yumnam Sheiteendra (15 not out) guided KCC to 146 for 5 in 40 overs.

PTCC's Dominic Moirangtheth managed two wickets including Dijiraj's as his compatriots Sohail Akram (1/35 in 8 overs), Naorem Victor Meitei (1/30 in 6 overs) and Sadananda Okram (1/21 in 6 overs) earned a wicket apiece.

Needing 147 for the third win in 5 matches, PTCC had a dismal start to their chase and were skittled out for a paltry 123 runs within 31.5 overs as Loktongbam Ozzy, Kongbrailatpam Sanjit Sharma and Yumnam Sheiteendra ran through the PTCC line up.

PTCC had to endure hardship from the beginning of the chase and despite their struggle to takeoff, Yumnam Sheiteendra removed Mangshatabam Veekas for 1 after 4.4 overs before the team were reduced to 13-2 with medium pacer Ozzy removing Paonam Champion on 5 .

The slump continued with Andyroshan Mandingbam departing on 15 for the third wicket to Chumthao DK before Yambem Kaikuyamba (38) signed off on the first delivery of the 24th over to K Sanjit Sharma making it 74-4 for PTCC.

Wickets continue to fall regularly after Kaikuyamba's departure and Sanjit Sharma dismissed middle order batters, Sohail Akram (14) and Tanishq Sharma (7) to complete his three wicket haul (3/ 15 in 4 overs).

After, Dominic Moirangthem was run out, Ozzy swept Naorem Victor (6) and Sadananda Okram (3) to return with best bowling figures of 3/15 in 7.1 overs and Sheiteendra removed Loukrakpam Anao (6) to bowl out PTCC for 123 runs.

Eventually, Loktongbam Ozzy of KCC who shone with the bat and the ball was adjudged man of the match.
