Kerala riders maintain top spot

Punjab cyclists dominated on the penultimate day of the National Track Cycling Championship for 66th senior, 43rd junior and 29th sub-junior competitions winning four medals including two gold to climb to the fourth place even as Kerala continue to remain at the top followed by host Manipur and Haryana in second and third positions respectively.
On the fourth day of the championship at Khuman Lampak Velodrome today, T Soniya Devi ensured the host State maintain a superior medal tally than Haryana by winning the elite women sprint event while T Manorama bagged the silver behind Andaman and Nicobar's Deborah in the junior girls sprint to help Manipur stay in contention for the runners-up spot on 18 medals comprising of five gold and same number of silver.
The day's other gold medal winners include Amarjit Singh of Punjab (elite men's sprint), Dilawar of Haryana (junior men's point race), Prabhsimran of Haryana (junior men's sprint).
In team competitions held today, Punjab won the 3000 mtr junior men's pursuit, SSCB elite men's 4000 mtr pursuit and Kerala in elite women's 4000 mtr pursuit.
