Khuibung, Laiktla progress into Lamkang Sports Meet men's football quarter final

Imphal, May 19 2022: Khuibung and Laiktla team have advanced to the last 8 stage of the 56th All Lamkang Sports Meet men's football tournament as RSC beat Lungkharlown 2-0 to seal a place in the last 16 stage.

The football tournament of the sports meet organised by Lamkang Kurchuknao Kunpun (LKK) is underway at Angkhel Chayang playground.

In the 7th match of the 23-team knock-out tournament, RSC saw off Lungkharlown team 2-0 thanks to goals from SK Japhet (36') and Kh Rakesh (83').They will meet Thamlapokpi who knocked out Lamkang Khunou 7-1, in the pre-quarter final match.

In the 8th match of the tourney, Laiktla beat LKK 2-0 to seal the quarter final ticket.

The goals for the winning side were scored by Kh Jamshing (41') and SK Anthony (46') after a barren first half.

In the 9th match of the tournament, Khuibung and DAMSOL were locked at 1-1 till the break but the former team raced ahead in the second half to secure a 4-2 win and booked a place in the quarter final.

Khuibung took an early lead with LV Anand netting the opener in the 3rd minute but Kh Rengam helped pull level in the 36th minute.

Th Mishra however hit a brace (45', 49') to give Khuibung a 3-1 lead.

K Boas also helped DAMJOL reduce the deficit scoring a fine goal in the 63rd minute but SN Khalthi ensured Khuibung finish the game 4-2 with an 81st minute strike.
