15-Day AMFA Grassroots Football Development Programme kicked off at Moirang

Bishnupur, March 07 2021: Moirang Assembly Constituency MLA, P Sharatchandra officially launched 15-Day AMFA Grassroots Football Development Programme 2021 to be conducted at 6 venues in Moirang Assembly Constituency, Thanga Assembly Constituency and Kumbi Assembly Constituency today.

The 15-day programme is being organised by District Football Association, Moirang in line with the guidelines as laid down by All India Football Federation for the development of the game of football in India.

The opening ceremony was also attended by M Ratankumar, president of the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA); social worker, Thongam Shanti; other AMFA officials; officials of DFA Moirang as dignitaries.

The programmes to be conducted at 6 centres under Moirang, Kumbi and Thanga ACs viz- Phubala, Moirang, Saiton, Kumbi, Ithai and Chairen Mangjing will see 50 girls and 770 boys between the age of 6 and 14 undergo training.

To mark the opening of the programme, the participants took out a procession from Moirang Kangla and went through Moirang Keithel before culminating at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Playground.

Speaking as the chief guest, MLA P Sharatchandra expressed hope that such a programme would surely help in the development of budding players into imminent players in the future.

Meanwhile, social worker Thongam Shanti stated that guiding younger generations in the right path is a must and a grassroots football development programme would lit up the path for these younger players.

The programme will not only invoke interest towards the discipline among the players and help them gain new skills and ideas but also ensure these players refrain themselves from intoxicants and psychotropic substances, he said.

AMFA president, M Ratankumar on the hand urged the parents not to remain pleased over their wards participation in the grassroots development programme but also to remain attentive to their wards and assist in grooming them well till they became fully developed and ready.
