6th MNCA Plate Tournament : Ksh Robert stars as CDC crush KIYC by 170 runs, set up final date with UCC

Imphal, August 20 2022: CDC, Sagolband pulverised KIYC, Kshetrigao by 170 runs courtesy Kshetrimayum Robert's all round performance to set up 6th MNCA Plate Tournament title clash with UCC, Uripok.

The result also meant that CDC, Sagolband got promotion into the Super Plate group.

Put in to bat first, CDC posted a modest total of 229 runs for 7 in allotted 40 overs as Thounaojam Rakesh (41), Priyojit (58) and Kshetrimayum (59 not out) made significant contributions and rode bowled out Kshetrigao for a paltry 59 within 12.4 overs to seal the final berth thanks to exceptional bowling performances from Khurshid Alam, Ksh Robert, RK Robindro and Mutum Jodiba.

In CDC innings, Md Abdul Hamid found the breakthrough bowling out Salam Pinky for 9 in the 4th over but Thounaojam Rakesh and Priyojit gathered 79 runs off 94 balls before Rakesh (41) fell to Md Abdulla Khan for the second wicket with the completion of 19 overs.

CDC slipped to 150 for 5 after 29.3 overs as SM Abdur Rahim removed M Jodiba for 1, Aneesh Ahmed sent Priyojit packing for 58 (off 74 balls) and Md Ataur Rahaman fell to Abdul Hamid for 10 .

Viking Salam and Kshetrimayum Robert then set up the recovery path for the Sagolband side late on forging 48-run 6th wicket partnership to take the tally near the 200 run mark.

Viking Salam (15) however got edged to Geetchandra Moirangthem off Md Abdulla Khan who returned with the best bowling figures of 3/47 by dismissing RK Robindro for 2 in the 38th over.

Robert anchored well and completed his blistering knock of 59 off 49 with 4 fours and 2 sixes to take the tally to 229 with Geerish Kangabam (6 not out) on the other end of the crease.

Md Abdul Hamid also finished with bowling figures of 2/38 as Aneesh Ahmed and SM Abdur managed a wicket each.

In reply, KIYC were never in contention as Khursid Alam (3/28) and RK Robindro (2/25) combined well to rattle the top order batters and reduced KIYC to 35 for 5 in 7 overs.

The slump continued with Ksh Robert bowling out KIYC's top run getter Md Farhat for 22 and Mutum Jodiba removing Amzad Kh for 5 in the 11th over.

Robert then completed his three wicket haul by bowling out Mv Md Aman for 1 and Md Abdulla Khan for golden duck in the first and second delivery of the 12th over and eventually walked away with the man of the match accolade.

Medium pacer M Jodiba then bowled out Md Zakariya Shah for 6-ball duck in the 4th delivery of the 13th over to wrap up the KIYC innings at 59 .
