Imphal, February 09 2022: PCC, Mayaikoibi romped to a 10-wicket win over KCDO, Kongpal for the third group stage win and made it to the 3rd MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy quarter finals at Heinoupok ground today.

Takhelmayum Vikash was in prolific form today as he emerged wrecker-in-chief dismissing 7 KCDO batters including four on ducks as the Kongpal team won the toss and opted to bat first.

KCDO, who failed to turned up with full strength had to play with 9 players bundled out for only 29 runs for 8 in 16.1 overs and PCC rode on Vikash's 20 off a four and two sixes to post a winning 33 for no loss within 2.3 overs for the 10 wicket win.

In KCDO innings, Boocker Kangjam managed the highest 11 runs while Moramba Meitei and Kongbrailatpam Chandrasha-khar Sharma scored 4 and 3 runs respectively.

On the other hand, Max Wairokpam who was with Vikash on the other end of the crease added 4 runs in the PCC innings.

Allrounder Vikash was eventually named man of the match.

With the win, PCC capped the group campaign with 6 points and finished runners up as YWC who are unbeaten in three of three matches remained on top of the group table with better Net Run Rate.

It was the fourth straight loss for the Kongpal team.

Meanwhile, MPA rounded off the Group A campaign beating TRAU, Kwakeithel by 113 runs for the second win in four matches.

They, however, failed to make the cut for the quarter finals as YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel and PTRC Patsoi have already booked the quarter final spots from the same group.

Put in to bat first at ABA ground, Lucky Elangbam struck 4 fours and 1 six on the way to his 49-ball 50 and Thounaojam Suhan Singh scored 31 off 41 balls to ensure MPA stack up 173 runs for 7 in 30 overs.

Elangbam Rohit (14) and Lanchenba Thounaojam (24) too made significant scores in the MPA innings which witnessed TRAU's Yendrembam Bharatngamba (2/27), Mutum Swabhiman (2/16) and Indrakumar Singh Sanjenbam (2/48) claiming two wickets each.

In reply, TRAU slumped to 60 all out in 25.3 overs as MPA bowlers made a concerted effort in maintaining a perfect economy and took wickets in regular intervals to keep the pressure on till the end of the innings.

Only Huningshumbam Luching with 13 runs was the double digit score for TRAU in the chase as Chingtham Albish scalped thrice for 2 runs in 3.3 overs which contained two maidens and Elangbam Rohit (2/6 in 5 overs) and Elangbam Sanatomba Meitei (2/15 in 4 overs) shared two wickets each.

Soram Naoboy and Soram Dayananda also managed a wicket each to help MPA seal the huge win.

Elangbam Rohit of MPA who scored 14 runs and fetched two wickets was named man of the match.

YWC, Langthabal will play Blue Hawk in the last group (B) stage match of the tournament tomorrow at Heinoupok ground.
