Grand reception for bronze medalist Chanchan

Imphal, October 03 2014 :
State hockey player Thokchom Chanchan, who took a major role in the Indian hockey team in bagging bronze medal in the ensuing 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, was felicitated by the people of the state with rousing welcome on her arrival at Imphal International Airport, here today.
Players and office bearers of Manipur Hockey led by its president Ksh Thoiba; coaches and players of Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur (PHAM) and Meirapaibis of Bashikhong put garlands of flowers and currency notes on the neck of state hockey player.
Later, she was taken to her residence at Bashikhong bazaar by boarding on a vehicle.
Chanchan expressed her heart-felt gratitude to the people of the state for extending the grand reception.
Chanchan, who has been nurtured by a sports loving family, played more than 115 international hockey matches for Indian Women Hockey team.
She is now serving as a Senior Clerk in Western Railways.
Another state hockey player Pukhrambam Shushila, who also took part in the Indian's women hockey team for Incheon Asian Games, did not come back to home state today for her another engagement in other state.
