CYLC, Model Club, LMYVA register win in junior men's competition
CYLC, Chingamathak; Model Club, Chingamakha and LMYVA, Lalambung's junior men's teams emerged victorious as the 15th edition of Junior Basketball Championships and 38th State Sub-junior Basketball Championships, 2025 got underway at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court this evening.
In the opening match (Group A), CYLC notched up a commanding 52-32 win over ESU, Wangkhei before Model Club edged Youth Club, Uripok 47-46 in another Group A match.
Sarungbam Athouba led the scoring in CYLC's victory scoring 16 points including two triples across the four quarters as Achom Prince gathered 13 points from three quarters.
Laiphrakpam Leishamba and Leishangthem Leishemba also added 10 and 9 points respectively as Satcharaj scored highest 12 points for ESU followed by Laongonba on 7 points and Kenedy on 6 points.
Meanwhile Telheiba scored 19 points in Model Club's hardfought 47-46 win against Youth Club, Uripok as L Billgate scored 9 points, Sotindrachan added 6 points and A Thomba added 5 points including a triple.
A Shatish, RK Lenin and H Lanchenba also added 2 points apice for Model Club.
Meanwhile, Y Wilson topscored for Youth Club adding 19 points including a triple as Y Benjamin added 13 points and Y Taibangnanba added 10 points.
Sh Bishwanand and H Albert also added 2 points apiece for the losing team.
LMYVA post landslide 41-6 win against YWC Later in the Group B opening match, LMYVC, Lalambung Makhong crushed YWC, Malom by 41-6 points in a very lopsided encounter.
Irengbam Dhanaraj led the scoring for the Lalambung Makhong side scoring 11 points alone as Seleibam Krish added 8 points and Longjam Malemson added 5 points.
K Prasanta and K Nick Sharma also added 4 points apiece for the winning side as Ningthoujam Lanchenba scored a triple and Saikhom Gorav, Charoibam Kelvin and S Devjeet added two points apiece.
Dhanajit, Nikhil and A Chinglenkhomba scored two points apiece for the Malom team.
