Kangpokpi, September 26 2017: FC Kangchup emerged champions of Late Pu Letgoulen Doungel Memorial Sadar Hills 1st Division League at Brig Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi .

Today’s final match was indeed full of cheers and excitement for fans of both teams.

FC Kangchup and Leimakhong Bazar Youth Club fought well for the league title.

The first half of the match ended goalless with both teams guarding their fortresses extremely well and neutralising all offensive moves initiated from the mid field and the flanks .

After the breather, both teams put more purpose in their attacks off one such move, Satminlal of FC Kangchup took off on a fine solo run and after breaching the defence line found the target with a well taken shot in the 55th minute of the match.

Stung by the goal, LYBC put more men in the attack to restore parity and come back into the match but the defence line of FC Kangchup.

Ultimately FC walked away with a one goal victory .

The closing ceremony was graced by ADC Sadar Hills Chairman Haokholal Hangshing as chief guest while Chongpu Kipgen, MCS Retd president, DSA Sadar Hills and Chonkam Kipgen, chairman, Kangpokpi Town Committee attended as president and guest of honour respectively .

The players were inspected by the dignitaries and officials of DSA Sadar Hills before the final match .

FC Kangchup won the champions trophy with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 in its maiden attempt while runners up Leimakhong Bazar Youth Club settled for Rs 10,000 and a trophy .

Khunkho Youth Club bagged the trophy for Best Discipline team in the tournament while Satlenthang of Motbung Youth Club bagged the top scorer award with 6 goals .

FC Kangchup and Leimakhong Bazar Youth Club are now eligible to play in Late Pu K Hangshing Memorial Sadar Hills Super Division League which will begin on October 2 at Brig Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi DHQs.
