District Sports Competition kicks off in Noney

Noney, February 19 2025: As part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, the Noney district administration, in collaboration with the District ICDS Cell, One Stop Centre, and District Sports Association (DSA) Noney, organised a District Level Sports Competition for Girls and Women.

The event commenced on Wednesday at Longmai Common Ground, Noney district headquarters, with great enthusiasm.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr Sharath Chandra Arroju, deputy commissioner Noney, as the chief guest, in the presence of Namsadai Peter Pamei, superintendent of police Noney, Martha Kamei, president Rongmei Naga Lu Phuam, Imphal Luangrian, and Ningthuiliu Kamei, vice-president Rongmei Naga Lu Phuam, Manipur, who attended as the president and guests of honour, respectively.

The two-day sports event features 14 football teams and 16 volleyball teams.

In the football category, the champion team will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 along with certificates, while the first runner-up will receive Rs 10,000 and certificates.

Similarly, in the volleyball category, the winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 7,000, and the first runner-up will be awarded Rs 5,000, both accompanied by certificates.

The opening ceremony was attended by Lamana Riamei, centre administrator One Stop Centre, Noney, along with officials from the ICDS Cell and DSA, Noney.
