State players off to good start in North East Veteran Badminton Tournament

The state players delivered a good performance in the doubles event on the first day of the Yonex Sunrise 8th North East Veteran Badminton Tournament, which got underway in Guwahati, Assam on Friday.
The pairs of Laishram Krishnakumar and Soibam Ronald Singh, Akoijam Pradip Kumar and Lukram Ramesh Singh, Khumujam Tenzing and Ksh Devjit Singh, Chingakham Premson and Oinam Santosh Singh, Bonny Akoijam and Oinam Basanta Singh, L Krishnakumar and Thongjam Biswajit Singh, Oinam Basanta Singh and Sinam Ghanendro Singh, and Thot-thing Ruivah and Yireichan Raihing all registered wins in the men's doubles (40 & 45) to progress to the next round of the tournament.
Laishram Krishnakumar and Soibam Ronald Singh started their campaign in the men's doubles 40 event with a 21-6, 14-21, 21-10 win over Arunachal Pradesh's duo of Jarsa Gamlin and Somor Potom, before the state duo registered their second win, beating Assam's Bijon Dutta and Bikash Singh 21-13, 21-12 .
In the men's doubles 45 event, L Krishnakumar and Thongjam Biswajit Singh defeated Assam's Bijoy Saikia and Khagen Kachari 21-7, 21-8 in their first match, and they went to notch up a 21-10, 23-21 victory against Assam's Maintu Kr Bhagawati and Shaheeduz Zaman.
Akoijam Pradip Kumar and Lukram Ramesh Singh also secured two wins in the men's doubles 40 on the opening day.
