IRPC-A, ARPT sail into State polo quarterfinals

Imphal, November 05 2022:
Both Imphal Riding Polo Club-A and Assam Rifles Polo Team earned a smooth passage to the quarterfinals of the 36th N Hazari & Dr N Tombi State Polo Tournament 2022 on Saturday.
Imphal Riding Polo Club-A pulled off a convincing 6-3 success against Major Karan Polo Club en route to the last eight.
It was all square in the first chukker as IRPC-A's L Rohit cancelled out MKPC's early lead through H Pritam.
In the next chukker, IRPC-A stamped their authority with three goals courtesy of strikes from Leishemba Takhellambam, A Basanta and L Rohit, his second goal, while MKPC managed to score a goal through Kh Rivaldo.
The Imphal riders then extended their lead in the third chukker with a goal from Leishemba, his second goal, before Basanta followed suit to make it 6-3 in the fourth chukker for the eventual result.
Their opponents' third goal was scored by N Sadananda.
Assam Rifles Polo Team, meanwhile, stormed past MPSC-C 7-3 into the quarterfinals.
Assam Rifles trailed 2-1 in the opening chukker where M Jawan and S Abungcha converted for MPSC-C while Waji scored for the former.
The AR team evened the score in the second chukker through L Joykumar before they came out strongly in the third chukker collecting three goals with the help of a double from Riyakat Ali and L Joykumar, his second goal.
MPSC got a goal in that period through S Bimal.
Assam Rifles then closed out the game with two goals in the fourth chukker after Kh Chandrakumar and Riyakat, his second goal, made their efforts count.
