Paohkhaodu FC, Pou Legend FC to meet in PPL X final

Senapati, October 25 2024: The first semifinal match of the Poumai Premier League Season X took place on Friday, featuring Paohkhaodu FC against Lapao FC.

Supporters from across the district, including various villages, gathered to cheer for their teams.

The atmosphere at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati, was electric, with cheers erupting whenever a goal was scored or missed.

In the end, Paohkhaodu FC triumphed with a 3-0 victory.

Later, Ratung FC faced Pou Legend FC in the second semifinal.

The match was thrilling, as Ratung FC netted two goals in the first half.

In the second half, Pou Legend FC finally scored, making it 2-1 .

As time wound down, it seemed Ratung FC would secure the win, but Pou Legend FC's Jersey No 9 equalised in the dying seconds of extra time, bringing the score to 2-2 .

The match proceeded into additional time, where Pou Legend FC scored first, but Ratung FC equalised again, resulting in a dramatic 3-3 draw.

During the penalty shootout, the teams were tied 4-4 until a missed kick by a Ratung FC player allowed Pou Legend FC to advance to the final.

They will face Paohkhaodu FC on Saturday afternoon.

The closing ceremony for the Poumai Premier League Season X 2024 will commence at 10:30 am, with the final match set to kick off at 1 pm.

Prior to the semifinal matches, the organising committee, along with the players from the first semifinal and all spectators, observed a two-minute silent prayer to honour the sacrifices of Themmaso Tallonao, president, and Masothing, assistant general secretary of Tangkhul Mayarnao Naga Long (TMNL), who tragically lost their lives in an accident on October 24.The committee expressed deep sorrow, standing in solidarity with the families, friends, and the Tangkhul community during this difficult time, praying for strength and solace.
