Rishi, Lamnganba clinch gold medals at IW Boxing Cship

Imphal, May 17 2025: Huidrom Rishi Mangang and Leichombam Lamnganba Mangang claimed gold medals in the elite men's division of the 3rd Imphal West District Boxing Championship 2025, while other young pugilists triumphed in their respective categories in the U-19 men's competition.

Rishi Mangang (SRBA-A) emerged victorious in the elite men's -50kg category after defeating Angom Naresh Singh (PBA) in a hard-fought final at the Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Lamnganba Mangang (STC-Utlou) secured the gold in the elite men's -55kg division without contesting his final bout, as opponent Abujam Jotin Singh (IND) conceded a walkover.

In the U-19 men's finals, Chongtham Naoba Singh (IND), Johnson Khoirom Singh (MKBA), and Khangchrakpam Premchand Singh (SRBA-A) dominated their respective weight categories.

Naoba overcame Th Khongnang (SRBA-A), Johnson prevailed against Takhellambam Malem Mangang (IND), and Premchand defeated Deepsan Soibam (IND) in their gold-medal bouts.

The U-17 boys' group saw standout performances from Laishangbam Uningba Khuman (MKBA), Wangthoi Chirom (SRBA-A), Salam Diamon Singh (NSA), Khangchrakpam Mangal (SRBA-A), and Sanatomba Chirom (PBA), all securing top honours.

Meanwhile, Waikhom Prithibiraj Singh defeated Lamjingba Yumnam and claimed the U-15 boys' -58kg title.
