5th NE Thang-Ta Festival begins

Imphal, December 12 2022: The 5th North East Thang Ta Festival began on Sunday at Thang-Ta Shanglen, Yumnam Huidrom.

The opening ceremony of the 10-day festival organised by Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture was attended by Thounaojam Priyokumar Singh, former secretary Thang-Ta Federation of In dia, Huidrom Premkumar Singh, president Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association Manipur, and Heikrujam Cha Babu, secretary Imphal West District Thang-Ta Association, as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

In his address, Huidrom Premkumar said that Thang-Ta is a priceless gift of the forefathers and stressed the need for promotion of culture and advancement in education, tourism and sports.

Athletes from different Thang-Ta institutes, instructors and head instructors took part in the 5th North East Thang-Ta Festival, said a press release from the Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur.
