Manipur claim 13 medals at 9th Pencak Silat Federation Cup 2025

Imphal, August 10 2025: Manipur athletes delivered a stellar performance at the recently concluded 9th Pencak Silat Junior and Senior Federation Cup 2025 (August 2-5 in Leh, Ladakh), clinching a total of 13 medals - five gold and eight bronze - against strong competition from 32 teams across India.

The state's gold medallists included Elangbam Atomba Meetei and Thangjam Abung Meetei in the junior male ganda double category, Thokchon Yaiphabi in the junior female seni artistic tunggal category, Leikham Thoithoiba Meetei in junior male tanding (63-68 kg), Romio Thounnaojam in junior male tanding (68-71 kg), and Yaikhom Kiran in senior male landing (50-55 kg) .

Bronze medal winners were Takhellambam Gokul Meetei in junior male seni artistic solo creative, Thokchon Yaiphabi in both junior female solo creative and landing (39-43 kg), Elangbam Atomba Singh in junior male landing (47-51 kg), Oinam Deumbi Meetei in junior male tanding (51-55 kg), and Khumbommayum Ton Singh in senior male landing (80-85 kg).

The gold medallists from the Federation Cup will represent India at upcoming international competitions, including the 9th Junior Asian Championship in Srinagar (September21-25, 2025), the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain (October 22-31, 2025), and the 4th Youth Olympic Games in Senegal (October 31 - November 14, 2026) .

Manipur's team was coached by Laishram Ranjit.

Upon their return, the athletes received a warm welcome at Imphal international Airport, where the Pencak Silat Association of Manipur hosted a felicitation ceremony to celebrate their achievements.
