Manipur recorded their first win in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group with a massive 320-run triumph over Arunachal Pradesh at ADSA Railways Cricket Ground, Ahmedabad.
Manipur's commanding performance was highlighted by Johnson's unbeaten 111, supported by valuable contributions from Jotin Pheiroijam (92) and Karnajit Y (72), as they posted an imposing second-innings score of 359/7, building on their initial total of 266 .
Additional support came from Rex (43) and Langlonyamba M (24) in the innings.
Arunachal Pradesh struggled in their first innings, bowled out for a mere 115 under relentless pressure from Manipur's bowling attack.
For Manipur, Ajay Singh was particularly lethal, taking 6 wickets in a remarkable 3.5-over spell, with Jotin Pheiroijam adding three wickets and Rex claiming one.
Faced with a daunting target, Arunachal managed 190 in their second innings, with Nabam Dabi (36), Mibom Mosu (33), and Sandeep Kumar (24) putting up some resistance before the team was ultimately bowled out.
Manipur's bowlers maintained their discipline in the second innings, with Bishworjit leading the attack and claiming 4 wickets.
Jotin Pheiroijam and Ajay Singh each contributed two wickets, while Rex and Sultan added one apiece to secure the victory.
Manipur's first-innings total of 266 was anchored by solid performances from Ronald M (85), Johnson (48), Karnajit Y (38), P Prafullomani (34), Rex (28), and Sultan (19) .
Jotin Pheiroijam's all-round performance earned him the player of the match accolade.
