Imphal, February 02 2025: D Chess Academy today accorded a warm reception to 9 of its players who participated in three recently held regional and international rating Chess championships.

The felicitation programme held at Academy located at Uripok Khoisnam Leikai was attended by Dr S Gojendro as chief guest, Dr S Priyokumar as functional president and Sundeep Lourembam as guest of honour, said D Chess Academy in a statement.

As many as 9 players participated across three championships including 22nd North East FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2024 (held from December 17 to 21, 2024), SPS Guwahati India Open International Rating Chess Tournament 2024 (held from December 25 to 30) and 3rd Lt Diloo Dhar Memorial Open International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2025 (held from January 24 to 28) and four of them returned home with remarkable finishes while one earned FIDE Rating from the World Chess Federation.

The meritorious players include Khuman Einstein Maibam, son of Dr Maibam Ghono Singh who finished 1st among players players rated 1500 and below in the 3rd Lt Diloo Dhar Memorial Open International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2025; Dayanand Thoudam, son of Sarat Thoudam who finished 1st in U-13 boys category in the SPS Guwahati India Open International Rating Chess Tournament 2024; Lemba Sougaijam, son of Dr Sougaijam Priyokumar, who finished 4th position in U-11 boys category in the 22nd North East FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2024; Nadia Sougaijam, daughter of Sougaijam Priyokumar, who finished first in the U-15 Girls category in the SPS Guwahati India Open International Rating Chess Tournament 2024 .

In the meantime, Jonex Nandeibam, son of Nandeibam Polendro earned FIDE rating from the World Chess Federation having participated in the SPS Guwahati India Open International Rating Chess Tournament 2024 .

Other academy players who participated in the competitions include Williamba Moirangthem, son of Moirangthem Devakishore; Korounganba Thingbaijam, son of Thingbaijam Phulachandra; Punsiba Maisnam, son of Maisnam Ranjan and Rajasmita Hanjabam, daughter of Hanjabam Chandrananda Sharma.
