AKSDO, TCMDC victorious in 5th Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy

Imphal, April 27 2025: AKSDO, Khangabok and TCMDC, Thongju Part II Pechu Lampak emerge victorious in today's matches of the ongoing 5th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy 2024-25 at Model Higher Secondary School and Oriental College playground, Tera.

In the first match (Group B) of the day, AKSDO defeated IBSA, Yumnam Leikai by 4 wickets courtesy of Ningthoujam Sanayai.

Opting to field first, AKSDO bowled out IBSA for 72 runs in 16 overs with N Sanayai picking four wickets (4/8 in 3 overs), Rohit Laishram claiming two wickets (2/8 in 4 overs) and three others claiming a wicket apiece.

Leihaothabam Tondon 17 off 19 and K Nelson 10 off 20 were the only double digit run getters for IBSA.

Chasing 73 for the win, AKSDO rode on Bishorjit 3 not out and Sanayai 5 not out to finish off the chase in 18 overs with 4 wickets left to spare after contributions from Khundongbam Khamba 20 off 27, Laishram Winchelly 16 off 30 and Saikhom Lanchenba 13 fired the team to sniffing distance of a win.

Kh Subhas (2/14) and Kh Azmad (2/15) shared 4 wickets for IBSA as Mk Tamim and Pravesh claimed a wicket apiece.

Sanayai who led the AKSDO bowling attack was adjudged player of the match.

Later in the second match (Group C), TCMDC restricted KSDO, Kyamgei to 123/8 after winning the toss and fought their way to 129/4 in 16.1 overs.

Kharibam Suraj (3/22 in 4 overs) and Laishram Valindra (2/26) led the TCMDC bowling attack as KSDO posted 123 on the back of Md Abdul Razaque 27 not out, Md Arif Khan 27, and Tarique Aziz 23.In reply, Kongbrailatpam Kalyan 31 off 21 and Ashokumar provided an early flourish adding together 57 runs for the first wicket in 6.1 overs.

Ashokumar then anchored with an unbeaten 46 off 41 (1 four and 4 sixes) to take the team to 129 with Kh Suraj 17 not out off 15 .

Md Shah Jahan (2/17), Tarique Aziz (1/12) and Shah Nawaz (1/24) were among the wickets for KSDO in the second innings.

Suraj who starred with both the bat and ball was adjudged player of the match.
