Imphal, April 23 2022: H Ngaopulou of Liyai Khunou Senapati clinched the title of the 2nd State Level Khongjom Laan Ningsing Lamjel organised by the Wabagai Educational Sporting Club under the aegis of Athletic Association of Manipur on the occasion of "Khongjom Day" .

H Ngaopulou took 1 hour, 16 minutes and 43 seconds to finish on top of this half marathon which was flagged off from Wangoi Keithel and culminated at Wabagai Educational Sporting Club, Wabagai Thingel Leikai.

Finishing second in the half marathon in honour of martyrs of Anglo-Manipur War 1891 was Ningombam Pholendro who completed the course in 1 hour, 17 minutes and 57 seconds while Yumnam Arjit of Waiton finished third with a time of 1:21:30.Manaobi Singha, who was among two athletes from Assam participating the event, finished fourth taking 1:22:22 as Sagolshem Rishan of Tejpur Awang Leikai clocked 1:23:29, Md Shahidur of Lilong clocked 1:28:56 and Kh James of Nongpok Ingkhol clocked 1:29:18 to finish 5th, 6th and 7th respectively.

Laishram Anand of Tapokpi Ward No 2 (8th place-1:29:37), Laishram Pari of Torbung Bangla (9th place -1:29:39) and K Somorjit of Yairipok Yambem (10th place-1:31:23) also made it to top 10 finishers of the half marathon.

The winner, second place and third place were respectively feted with cash rewards of Rs 25,000; Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 apart from medals and certificates.

Fourth place winner was also encouraged with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 and certificate during the valedictory function of the event which was graced by Dr Usham Deben, MLA Wabagai AC others.

Two youngest athletes, Th Rojit of Mayang Imphal and H Malemnganba of Matai Mayai Leikai and two athletes from Assam were also encouraged with special awards.
