RCT, KCC, PTCC, RCA secure wins: MCA postpones 5th MNCA Plate Tournament as preventive measure against COVID-19

Imphal, March 19 2020: Amidst COVID-19 that has claimed four lives and infected more than 170 in the country, Manipur Cricket Association has postponed the 5th MNCA Plate Tournament 2019-20 until further notice.

The tournament began yesterday.

The matches today at different venues saw Rule Cricket Team (RCT) Malom, KCC, PTCC and RCA Lilong securing wins.

RCT beat TCMDC by 67 runs
In the first match of the day at Luwangpokpa Ground, RCT Malom beat TCMDC Thongju by 67 runs.

RCT won the toss and elected to bat first to amass 192 runs for all wickets down in 36.4 overs.

N Sarojkumar scored 59 runs (off 67 balls) and downed one wicket to be named the man of the match while team mate Sudhir contributed 53 runs (off 50 balls).

TCMDC's Sheiteendra scalped four wickets while Nganthoi and Kalyan took two wickets each to thin out the RCT.

Suraj and Tulajit also downed one wicket each to arrest the RCT's core to 192.In their chase, TCMDC's Priyo (40 runs off 78) and Suraj (20 runs off 54) put up trying efforts but were sent out as RCT's Milan, Jotish, Safwan and Saroj weed out 4, 3, 2 and 1 wicket respectively to pause TCMDC score at 125 in 39.2 overs.

KCC thrash YUCC
The second match at Moijing Playground, Thoubal saw KCC seeing off YUCC by a massive 93 run.

Man of the match, K Mranojit shone as he scored 93 runs off 89 balls.

Team mate N Tony could score 58 runs off 57 balls while S Robertson remained not out with 40 runs off 42 balls to help KCC set a target of 278 for 7 wickets in 40 overs.

YUCC's Dibak scalped three wickets in 8 overs.

Even as W Lenin contributed 47 runs off 50 balls, YUCC could manage only 187 runs for 9 in 40 overs.

KCC's Basanta, Sushil and Boba downed 4, 1, 1 wicket respectively.

PTCC defeat SSU
In the third match of the day at Langthabal Public Ground, SSU Singjamei suffered an embarrassing defeat as they succumbed 66 for 10 wickets in 24.3 overs giving PTCC Patsoi an easy win.

PTCC reached the target - 67 with 5 wickets down in just 15.1 overs.

Man of the match, PTCC's Bryan took 4 wickets while John downed three wickets.

Sohail and Dominic also scalped one wicket each for PTCC.

RCA win over SDC
RCA Lilong won over SDC Laipham Khunou by 6 wickets in the last match of the day at Model Higher Secondary & Oriental College Ground.

SDC batted first and amassed 228 for 8 in 40 overs.

Kh Lema, Kh Subhaschandra and Akash Dev contributed - 55 runs (58 balls), 37 runs (56 balls) and 34 (43 balls) respectively.

Man of the match, Md Saroj Khan scored 74 runs off 72 balls for RCA to reach 229 in 38.2 overs and win the match by 6 wickets.

RCA's Ms Aslam, Aziz Mirza and Razak Khan downed 2 wickets each while Saba Khan took one wicket.

SDC's K Monish and Kajalkumar took one wicket each in the match.
