9th MNCA Elite Tournament : Model Club, KCC bounce back with commanding wins

Imphal, February 19 2025: Model Club, Singjamei Chingamakha and KCC, Kongba Bazar returned to winning ways beating REYS, Khwai Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai and PTCC, Patsoi Part III respectively in the ongoing 9th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament 2024-25 .

At Lairenjam Public Ground, Model Club club overwhelmed REYS by 114 runs for their third win in 7 matches as Suson Yanglem and Waikhom Priyokumar ran riot with the ball for Model Club.

Asked to bat first, Model amassed 176 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 30 overs thanks to Suson Yanglem 26 not out, Langlonyamba 31, Maisnam Tejkumar 29 .

The innings saw Pinkey Singh Sanasam (4/17) claiming four wickets for REYS as four others picked a wicket apiece.

In reply, REYS faced a torrid time against Model Club bowlers and eventually slumped to 62 all out within 15.2 overs.

Suson Yanglem returned with the best figures of 4/11 for Model Club as Waikhom Priyokumar too finished with four scalps (4/20 in 4.2 overs) in this innings.

Suson Yanglem was eventually adjudged player of the match.

Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, KCC notched up a 7-wicket win over PTCC, Part III for the third win in 7 matches.

Toss winners PTCC racked up 146 for all wickets down in 35.3 overs despite Andy Mandingbam scoring a 94-ball 80 as Tayenjam Tomba (5/12 in 7.3 overs) and Nameirakpam Arbin (2/49 in 7 overs) combined well to set up their collapse.

KCC then cruised to the winning 148 in 32 overs with 7 wickets left to spare as Rojit Singh anchored with an 86-ball 55 (6 fours) with Nameirakpam Arbin (29 not out off 38 balls) .

Nongmaithem Dijaraj also added 33 runs off 43 balls in this innings that saw Shapam Kenjit (2/36) and Sadananda Okram (1/17) sharing three wickets for PTCC .

Tayenjam Tomba who enjoyed a five-for to lead KCC to the commanding win was eventually adjudged player of the match.
