Imphal, October 18 2022: Team event runners up, Manipur confirmed their place in the quarter finals of the 32nd Senior National Sepaktakraw Championships regu event securing 5 straight victories today in the opening day of the league (Group C) competition.

The championships are being hosted by West Bengal at Jyotirmoy Knowledge Park, Kolkata.

Manipur men's team opened their account with a 21-11, 21-8 thrashing of Maharashtra before easing 21-12, 21-9 past hosts West Bengal.

In the third Group stage encounter, Manipur overwhelmed Jharkhand 21-6, 21-3 and clinched an easy 21-13, 21-7 win over Uttarakhand in the fourth match before easing to a 21-8, 21-16 win over Telangana in the fifth encounter.

Manipur will play Telangana in the penultimate Group stage match.

The men's championship is being participated by 30 teams including SSB clubbed into 4 groups and two winners from each group will qualify for quarter finals.

Meanwhile, in the women's regu event, State women registered four wins on the trot beating Uttarakhand 21-9, 21-6 in the opening match (Group A) .

Manipur then beat Gujarat 21-9, 21-6 for the second win before beating Goa 21-6, 25-24 in the third match.

Manipur then prevailed 21-8, 21-9 over Andhra Pradesh for the fourth straight victory.

The women's championship is participated by 28 teams clubbed into 4 groups and top two teams from each group will advance to quarter finals.
