YWC-L thump MAF by 40 runs in 3rd MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy opener

Imphal, April 12 2021: YWC, Langthabal eased to a 40 run victory against MAF, New Lambulane in the opening match of the 3rd MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium today.

The day also saw WYC, Wangkhem, TRAU and MPSC register wins at different venues.

In the opening match (Group A), YWC stacked up 156 for 6 after being led to bat first and held MAF to 116 for 7 in their quota of 20 overs.

Bikramjit hit a 49-ball 50 for YWC-L while Jiko and Dinachandra added 34 and 22 runs respectively while Thangtingou topscored with 34 runs for MAF in the chase.

In YWC's innings, Gouminlun fetched three wickets but it went in vain as their batting line up failed horribly today.

Meanwhile, YWC's Prakashmani picked up two wickets as Kishan, Subash and Puinachandra chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Ng Bikramjit of YWC (L) was adjudged man of the match.

Later in a Group B league match staged at the same venue, TRAU defeated RCT, Malom by 48 runs.

Prafullomani (53), K Priyojit (40 not out) and K Bishorjit (36 not out) shone for TRAU en route to their 153 total at the cost of two wickets after electing to bat first and restricted RCT to 105 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Jay and Sarojkumar of RCT picked up a wicket each in TRAU's innings before Birjit of TRAU clinched 3 wickets in RCT's chase.

TRAU's Anand and Bijen also claimed two wickets to exert pressure on RCT.

Prafullomani who topscored for TRAU earned man of the match accolade.

Elsewhere in the Group C league opener staged at Oriental College and Model Hr Secondary School ground, WYC, Wangkhem beat REYS by 5 runs.

Lakshmon of WYC produced a brilliant knock of 35-ball 53 to help his team reach 147 for 7 in 20 overs after electing to bat first.

Jackychand of REYS snatched three wickets for 20 runs in this innings but their chase ceased when they were only 6 runs away from the win and two wickets left in the hand.

Ajit scored an unbeaten 45 in REY's chase which saw Tomba of WYC enjoy a three wicket haul.

Lakshmon and Th Priyobarta also snatched two wickets each in this innings.

Lakshmon of WYC who shone with both the bat and ball was eventually named man of the match.

Later in a Group D league played at the same venue, MPSC stunned FORCE, Kshetrigao by 21 runs.

Sunil (43) and Shangker (41) had brilliant outings to ensure MPSC pile up 134 runs for 6 in 20 overs after electing to bat first and squeezed FORCE to a paltry 113 total for 6 in their chase.

Sangker who batted well earlier clinched three crucial wickets of FORCE and guided his team to a 21 run victory.

He was eventually named man of the match.
