Imphal, November 10 2024: Thokchom Robert of UYDC boxed his way to the final of the elite men's 51 kg final in the 2nd Governor's Cup Boxing Championships 2024 being organised by the Manipur Amateur Boxing Association (MABA) .

Robert defeated Biso Roungkhotinsan Koireng of MKBA-B in a semi-final clash today to seal his place in the final.

The day also saw Moirangthem Yaikhomba of MKBA-A outlasting Elangbam Sunanda of SRBA-A and Yengkhom Bikram of SAI STC Imphal getting better of M Ratan of MSBA in the youth men's 60 kg category semi-final bouts.

Leimapokpam Binod Kumar meanwhile will face Aheibam Mangal in the youth men's 70 kg category title clash.

Binod reached the final by defeating S Yoihenba of NSA-A before A Mangal defeated Rengneibar Serto Kom of MKBA-A to seal his final ticket.

Sneha Thangjam of MKBA-A and Rinngam Vashi of SRBA sealed final ticket in the youth women's 48 kg category competition with semi-final victories today as Bilat Leivon Kom of MKBA-A and Herison Phurailatpam of PBA registered semi-final victories in youth men's 55 kg competition; Thongam Nilbir of SRBA-A and T Amarjit of MKBA-A sealed semi-final victories in youth men's 50 kg category event.

Junior Boys

Tekcham Radhakanta of MBA and Prabin Naorem of PKBA will fight it out for the title of the junior boys 66 kg category competition.

Radhakanta got the better of H Rajdaneil of NBA in the first semi-final match today before Prabin got the better of Laishram Korounganba of UYDC in the second semi-final match.

Rajkumar Yumkhaibam of MKBA-A, meanwhile, defeated Samom Punshiba of PKBA to set up a 63 kg category final date with Keisham Thoungamba, who defeated Khundrakpam Lowrence of PBA, in the first semi-final match.

Moirangthem Lanngamba of NBA and Th Khongnang of SRBA-A also emerged victorious in the junior boys 57 kg category semi-final bouts as Ngathingshang Valui of SRBA-A and Kshetrimayum Bluntchily of MBA registered 60 kg category final tickets.

Junior Girls

In the 46 kg category semi-final bouts for junior girls, Singsa W Shimray of SRBA-A defeated Lantham Anjuta of PKBA and Moirangthem Khrismira of MKBA-A defeated Taniya Laishram of NSA-B to book final tickets.

Ngalangam Pheirei of MKBA-A and Takhellambam Alena of SAI STC Imphal also emerged victorious in the junior girls 48 kg category semi-final bouts as Themsingphi R Makan of MKBA-B and Gunshala Khumba of MKBA-A secured wins in the 50 kg category semi-final bouts; Aheibam Soniya of SRBA-A and Lanchalu Malangmei of MKBA-A registered wins in 52 kg semi-final bouts.

Radhamani Lonjam of SRBA-A and Nongthombam Purnima Devi of SRBA-A also booked 54 kg category final tickets as Leimapokpam Sanjana of UBA and Menaka Sharungbam of SRBA-A earned 57 kg final tickets before Yumnam Niha of SRBA defeated Thoudam Daina of MKBA-A to earn a place in the 60 kg category final and Tekcham Neeha of SRBA-A defeated Elangbam Panthoi of PKBA to sealed a 66 kg category final slot.
