38th National Games : Poomsae women's team bag silver, Lawn Bowls men's fours team win bronze

Manipur's medal spree continued in the 38th National Games with the State women's poomsae team securing a silver medal and men's fours team clinching a bronze medal for the State on the 12th day of the sporting extravaganza.
The poomsae silver medallists after Hafija Khatun and Laishram Priya sealed individual Kyorugi bronze medals include Soraisam Lamnganbi Chanu,Umelly Mangsatabam and Irom Bijaya Devi.
The first (bronze) medal in Taekwondo was secured by Hafija Khatun in the U-57kg category on the opening day (February 6) while Priya secured the other bronze medal in the women's U-73 kg category event.
In the last National Games hosted by Goa, Manipur's Taekwondo team had won three medals including a gold.

Bronze medal in Lawn Bowls
Manipur won a Lawn Bowls bronze medal on the 12th day of the games hosted by Uttarakhand with the men's fours team suffering a 6-26 semi-final defeat to Jharkhand at Hockey Practice Ground, MPSC, Dehradun.
The team comprising K Hemandro Singh, Md Aftab Ahmad Khan, M Mangalleiba and Y Tomthin had beaten Delhi and Bihar teams to finish Group B runners up an set up a semi-final date with Jharkhand.
It may be recalled that men's pairs comprising Pravesh Kumar Salam and Md Aftaf Ahmad Khan had won a bronze medal in the last edition of National Games.
State women's hockey team bounce back
State women's hockey team bounced back from a heavy loss to Jharkhand in the previous encounter to thrash hosts Uttarakhand by 5-2 goals today at Vandhana Kataria(VK) hockey stadium, Haridwar in Uttarakhand this morning.
Lanchenbi Khundrakpam netted twice in the team's victory as Brahmacharimayum Sarita, Thoudam Suman, and Thoudam Nirupama added a goal apiece.
On February 5, Manipur opened the league campaign with a 2-2 draw with Mizoram.
Gymnastics : Qualifying round commences
The qualifying rounds of the gymnastics discipline have begun.
As many as ten gymnasts led by three officials will be competing at the games.
The gymnasts will be competing in five events-Men's artistic Gymnastics (MAG), Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), Aerobic Gymnastics (Individual, Mixed Pairs and Trio) .
The male gymnasts representing Manipur this time are S Ruban Meitei, O Umajit Singh, M Romesh Singh while women gymnasts include O Bandana Devi, Ariha Pangambam, H Jesika, Ch Leishilembi, Pangambam Anjori, K Maliyani and RK Thoithoilembi, according to general secretary Y Bony Singh of All Manipur Gymnastics Association.
Meanwhile aerobic gymnastics-Mixed Pairs, Trio and Gymnastic Group have qualified for finals while the qualification for Individual men and women gymnastic will be held on February 9, Gymnastic coach Ranjan Yumnam said.
