It was a mixed bag in the 5th SCK 7-a-side Football Tournament with SCK-A whitewashing 7 Boys Langol my a margin of 9 goals to one while LASHAL Leimapokpam overcame a fighting HYPC, Heiyel by the odd goal in three, with THELS Yaiskul on a rollercoaster ride in brushing aside MYC by a margin of 4 goals to nil while HCYDA Hiyangthang were locked in a goalless draw with Naga Boys Namdulong in the four matches played today.
The one dampener was in the fifth match, when FC Lairenjam gave a walk over to 7 Star Takyel.
Riding on a brilliant three goals each from Gandhi and Samananda, SCK A Kodompokpi had little difficulty in cutting to size the lack lustre performance of the boys from 7 Boys Langol, in registering a convincing win by a margin of 89 goals to one in the first match of the day.
From the first whistle, SCK A played to a plan and adopting an attacking style started raiding the territory of 7 Boys Langol.
Taking control of the midfield and finding the gaps on either side of the flanks, the boys from SCK-A made repeated inroads into the territory of 7 Boys Langol, resulting in the first goal in the 13th minute when Gandhi found the net with ease.
Not resting on the one goal lead, SCK-A kept up the pressure and Donald found himself in a good position to net home the ball in the 15th minute to score the second goal in the 15th minute.
In between Samananda chipped in with one goal on the 17th minute to take the tally of his team to three goals to nil.
After this Gandhi came into his elements and scored another goal in 20th minute to amass a four goal lead.
Samananda then chipped in with two quick goals in the 35th and 37th minute of the match to literally take the match away from the reach of 7 Boys Langol.
Rabindra added two goals in the 22nd and 42nd minute of the match to complete the rout.
For 7 Boys' Langol the consolation goal came in the 40th minute when Poukinlung found the net.
In the second match of the day LAHSAL Leimapokpam overcame a fighting HYPC Heiyel by a margin of 3 goals to three in a fiercely contested match.
LASHAL did well in coming back from behind to emerge winners after Chingkhangkhomba put HYPC in the lead with a 14th minute goal with Rojikanta netting another goal in the 23rd minute.
LASHAL fought back bravely and emerged winners through goals from Tarpon in the 39th and 47th minute and Jotin in the 43rd minute.
In the third match of the day (Group C) THELS Yaishul whacked MYC Sanjenbam by a massive margin of 4 goals to nil.
Dominating the game from the first whistle, THELS, Yaiskul made their intentions clear and started off on an attacking mode.
The players from Yaiskul took control of the match from the early stage and they started dictating the pace of the match, taking control of the midfield and making forays down the flanks on both sides.
Finding gaps in the defence line of MYC the players from THELS continuously initiated dangerous moves and this paved the way for the first goal of the match, when Inao was bang on target in the 11th minute.
Continuing with their open and free flowing style, they boys from Yaiskul continued with the onslaught and the second goal came in the 34th minute with Santanu let go a rasping shot that disturbed the net at the far right.
Ray then chipped in with another goal in the 42nd minute to while Inao was at it again in the 47th minute when he scored to carve out a convincing win.
