Imphal, February 05 2023: NAPSA-Kha Imphal claimed the title of the 7th MNCA Plate Tournament 2022-23 organised by the Manipur Cricket Association overwhelming AKSDO-Khangabok by 95 runs in the title clash staged today at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College playground.

NAPSA posted a lowly total of 184 runs for 9 wickets in allotted 40 overs but managed to bowl out AKSDO for 89 runs within 27.4 overs to claim the tourney title.

Heisnam Boney led the batting for NAPSA en-route to his half century (84 off 114) despite seeing his partners on the other end of the crease departing cheaply.

NAPSA got off to a slippery start after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

They lost Laishram Electronic for 12 for the first wicket to Sanayai Ningthoujam before losing Bijaykaran Yumnam for 1 in 9.2 overs to Laishram Nirash.

Laishram Nirash went on to dismiss Bipin Ningthoujam and Richard Singh Kshetrimayum on ducks in the 12th over to reduce NAPSA to 38 for 4 and completed his three wicket haul (3/22) .

The slumped for NAPSA continued with Sanayai removing Tongbram Dhanakuber on duck and Premananda Ahongsangbam for 3 to make it 58 for 6 after 18.2 overs.

From there, cautious Heisnam Boney forged a 115 run partnership off 116 balls with Monjit Loushambam for the 7th wicket to revive the innings and take the tally past the 150 run mark.

With Nirash bowling out Monjit, NAPSA were reduced to 173 for 7 before Heisnam Boney holed out to Ingobi off Laishram Rohit's final delivery in the 39th over.

Laishram Nirash went on to bowl out Albert Sorokhaibam in the second delivery of the last over to return with the best bowling figures of 5/27 in 8 overs which include one maiden.

Despite their efforts, AKSDO batting department could not withstand fierce bowling performances from Alberth Sorokhaibam (5/21 in 6.4 overs) and Heisnam Boney (3/23 in 6 overs) and eventually succumbed to 89 all out in 27.4 overs to finish runners up.

Nepram Richer of NAPSA found the breakthrough by trapping Chinglensana Moirangthem lbw for 10 runs before Heisnam Boney bowled out Bishorjit Mangang for 17 runs to make it 49 for 2 in 16.4 overs.

AKSDO continue to struggle in finding their composure and further slumped to 79 for 7 after 25.5 overs with Alberth Sorokhaibam clinching three key wickets and Heisnam Boney collecting his second wicket.

Heisnam Boney then bowled out Ingobi for 5 for the 8th wicket before Albert Sorokhaibam swept the remaining two wickets and completed his fifer.

Heisnam Boney of NAPSA who shone with both the bat and ball (84 runs off 114 balls and 3 wickets in 6 overs) eventually clinched the man of the match award worth Rs 2,500 in cash and a trophy.

Winners, NAPSA pocketted a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh as runners up, AKSDO settled for Rs 70,000 along with a trophy.

NCA's Chourjeet RK having picked 34 wickets in 8 innings was adjudged highest wicket taker and feted with a cash prize of Rs 4,000 and a trophy.

Haojalen Kipgen of RRCC who scored 321 runs and picked 18 wickets in 7 innings walked away Rs 12,000 richer as he bagged the highest run scorer prize of Rs 4,000 and man of the series award worth Rs 8,000 along with trophies.
