1st MNCA Superplate Tournament : KSDO beat PCC by 3 wickets in opening match

Imphal, March 03 2022: KSDO (Kiyamgei) beat PCC (Mayai Koibi) in the inaugural match of the 1st MNCA Superplate Tournament 2021-22 today.

PCC won the toss and opted to bat first at the inaugural match played at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.

Opening the game with Charoibam Tyson, PCC's Rohit was sent back to the pavilion with a duck after facing 4 balls while Tyson fell lbw on KSDO's Tarique Aziz.

Tyson had added just 5 runs in 10 balls. Thokchom Anand was caught behind the wickets by Nawaz Sharif in Md Abdul Razaque's ball after adding just 6 runs in 29 balls.

Vikas and Longjam Gibson added 40 and 28 runs respectively before Vikas was caught and bowled by Hamza and Gibson was bowled by the same.

PCC wicket keeper Huidrom Dhanashyam added 43 runs in 42 balls, skipper Chingakham Ranjan 25 off 21 balls, Bobby Meitei 7 off 31 balls, Lourembam Dipu 2 off 3 balls and Ch Kenny 6 runs off 9 balls (not out) to put 188 in the scoreboard (which included 26 extras) in 40 overs with one wicket remaining.

KSDO's Tarique Aziz bowled an impressive spell taking 3 wickets in 7 overs and giving away just 36 runs.

Hamza took 2 wickets in 8 overs and conceded 45 runs while Shajahan and Md Abdul Razaque took one wicket each.

Shamir Khan conceded 37 runs in 7 overs; Shah Nawaz 19 runs in 7 overs and Rameez Ahmed 10 runs in 1 over.

Eyeing a target of 189, KSDO openers Shamir Khan and Nawaz Sharif went for a good start before KSDO's skipper Shamir Khan became the first victim of Ch Kenny as he was caught by Vikas and sent back to the pit.

Kenny again bowled new batsman Reehaj after he had added just 1 run in 3 balls.

The skipper had added 36 runs off 24 balls.

The match went on an interesting turn as Nawaz Sharif and Hamza, who came in to bat at No 4, showed an impressive partnership as Sharif added 30 runs in 52 balls before getting caught behind the stump and Hamza added 71 runs off 69 balls before he got caught by Rohit on Vikas's ball.

Other batsmen Md Raish Raza (15 runs off 31 balls), Tarique Aziz (8 off 12 balls), Shajahan (5 off 21 balls, not out) and Md Arif Khan (1 run from 6 balls, not out) gave KSDO the 3 wickets victory in 37 overs.

Ch Kenny took 3 wickets in 8 overs and gave 16 runs while L Dipu and Vikas took 2 wickets each.

KSDO's Hamza was adjudged the Man of the Match for his impressive stroke of 71 runs from 69 balls and 2 wickets in 8 overs.
