45th Sr State Level Handball Tournament : MPSC men, women stretch winning run

Imphal, January 03 2022: MPSC men's and women's team have sealed their second successive win in the league stage of the 45th Senior Men and Women State Level Handball Tournament being underway at YLK, Handball ground, Chingarel Tejpur.

MPSC men thumped Citizen Club, Soibam Leikai by 28-16 goals for the second successive win in Pool (B) competition as Bijoy netted 8 goals and Th Hemanta scored a significant 6 goals.

Y Beckor Roy, Th Robi and N Dinachandra managed three goals each in the MPSC's big win followed by N Gobin (2), H Ingocha (2) and O Deval (1).Y Romario too scored 8 goals for Citizen Club but his compatriots failed to lift the game together and ended up with 16 goals.

In another Pool B league match, IMC who won 22-15 over Citizen Club yesterday, beat BBA, Mayang Imphal by 18-17 goals in a keenly contested game for the second win.

L Lamnganba (5), A Prem (4), O Tony (3), Th Akendrajit (2), O Prem (2), L Lemba (1) and Y Jaspindra (1) scored it for the Thoubal team while Th Boicha (4), A Tondonba (3), I Atomba (3), L Santosh (2), N Shitaljit (2), Th Momocha (2) and A Premson (1) scored for the Mayang Imphal team.

In the only Pool A league match of the day, hosts YLK carved out an easy 22-10 win over Public Club, Top Khongnangmakhong.

A Bikramjit shone with 10 goals for the Chingarel side as Th Silheiba, O Amarjit and K Nandakeshor added three goals each to ensure the big win.

K Rajeshor (2) and A Ranjan (1) also found their names on the scoresheet for YLK while E Priyo (3), K James (2), K Raju (2), E Rokesh (1), L Goutam (1) and K Sharukhan (1) were the scorer for the Public Club.

In the first women's tie of the day, Citizen Club pulled off a 13-7 win over IMC for the first win in three matches.

Anjubala made the most of the scoring chances and put in 5 goals alone for the Soibam Leikai team followed by Ranju (3), Jenila (2), Ronibala (2) and Rujata (1).Meanwhile, L Sonia, Puspa, L Umapati all scored two goals each for the Thoubal Leishangthem team as L Daina added once.

YLK women then extended their winning run to two after beating BBA by 16-5 goals thanks to Y Monika (9), Bimolata (6) and Th Kabita (1).BBA's goals were on the other hand scored by Ch Inunganbi (4) and A Bebe (1).MPSC women then notched up a 19-8 win over IMC for the second win in the trot courtesy O Shandhyarani (6), M Dimple (4) and Ng Khomeiton (3).Kh Apabi (2), L Luxmi (2), N Babina (1) and N Sunibala (1) also scored for MPSC as L Sonia (6), P Dhanapati (1) and L Debarani (1) were on target for IMC.

In another women's clash, Jenila's goal helped Citizen Club beat BBA 1-0 .
