20th Challenge Cup Veteran Football : Huge wins for FC Eimi, SVFC, Lilong FC and Langol FC

Imphal, May 02 2018: FC Eimi, Game Village; SVFC, Sekmai; Lilong FC and Langol FC registered huge wins against their rivals in today's league matches of the 20th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament 2018 being organised by Manipur Veteran Football Association at Artificial Turf Ground, Khuman Lampak.

A total of 16 teams including one team from outside the State (from quarter final stage) are competing for top honours in it.

In the group B league match staged today, Jangminlen scored thrice to hand FC Eimi a convincing 5-1 victory against BDVFA, Bishnupur.

Jangminlen opened the account for FC Eimi in the 22nd minute and gave his team a 1-0 first half lead.

FC Eimi grew stronger in the second half as S Haque, Rouching followed Jungminlen's footsteps to make it 5-1 at the end.

The second half witnessed a brilliant start as Jangminlen and S Haque netted one goal each within the same minute (46th minute) to extend the lead to 3-0 .

The huge deficit forced the Bishnupur side to concentrate on keeping their goal line intact for a while but unending attempts from FC Eimi leave them in total confusion.

After few unsuccessful attempts it was Rouchung who sneaked into rivals box and tapped in the last goal for his team in the 56th minute.

BVDFA, Bishnupur however made a late return into the game and were able to pull one back in the 69th minute when L Kirankumar who was lurking around the edge of FC Eimi's box collected a good cross before sending it into the net and made it 1-5 at the end.

In the second group B league match of the day, SVFC, Sekmai edged past UKFC, Uripok by3-l goals.

SVFC found its opener through M Nimaichand in the 7th minute .

The remaining portion of the first half saw an end to end affair as both teams made many fine interceptions to keep the scoreline undisturbed.

After the break M Tomchabi scored two goals back to back in the 44th and the 47th minute and made it 3-0.E Romi of UKEC was however able to grab a single in the 59th minute before the game ended 3-1 in favour of SVFC.

The second Group C league match of the tournament saw Lilong FC beat VSU, Tekcham 2-0 through goals scored by Ng Bijoy arlde L Premchand in the 15th and the 33rd minute.

VSU who were clueless in the first half tried hard to come back but the strong defence line up of Lilong FC thwarted all the inward moves being made upon them.

In the last league match (Group C) of the day, Langol FC drubbed FVWA, Kangjeibung 4-0 to earn full points.

Goals from Palmeinunglen (36'), Lalkhomang (42', 48') and Lengkhojen helped Langol FC complete the 4-0 rout of FVWA, Mapal Kangjeibung.
