5th MNCA Plate Tournament : KSDO overwhelm PTCC; RCT, MPSC script similar wins

Imphal, February 01 2021: KSDO, Kiyamgei posted a massive 119 run victory against PTCC, Patsoi Part III as RCT, Malom and MPSC posted similar victories in today's group stage matehes of the 5th MNCA Plate Tournament 2019-20 at different venues.

In the Group C league match played at Oriental College playground, KSDO stacked up a total of 199 for 8 in 30 overs thanks to Nawaz Sharif (70), Reehaj (38), Tarique Aziz(19), Md Raish Raza (20) and Abdul Rafique (not out 16) and held PTCC Patsoi Part III all out for 80 in 23 overs for the impressive win.

KSDO could have scored more had Sadananda Okram of PTCC not found the breakthrough first removing Reehaj in this innings reducing KSDO to 87 for 1 in 15.4 overs.

John N Hmar and Naorem Victor Meitei also made their mark by taking two wickets each as Sohail Akram, Dominic Moirangthem too shared a wicket each.

Though the target seemed modest, Md Shamir Khan and Sangomsumpham Shah Nawaz dismissed three each to seize full control of the game and forced PTCC to slump at 80 for 10 in 23 overs.

Hemachandra with 25 runs topscored for the Patsoi side in the chase as Andyroshan Singh and Yambem Kaikuyamba played their part with 13 and 17 runs respectively while the other batsmen fell cheap with insignificant figures.

Sangomsumpham Lakimbur and Md Abdul Razaque of KSDO also picked up a wicket each in this innings.

Nawaz Sharif of KSDO was named man of the match.

RCT beat MUVANLAI by 31 runs
In the group A league match staged at Langthabal Public Ground, RCT-Malom posted a 31 run victory against MUVANLAI who defeated IBS A in their previous group league match.

RCT, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, posted a total of 152 runs for all wickets down in 36.5 overs (40 total) and restricted Muvanlai to 121 for 10 in 30.2 overs to earn the victory.

Sarojkumar impressed with a half century knock (55 off 84) as Denin, Somokanta and Jotish contributed 18, 16 and 12 runs respectively for RCT in this innings in which Gouminlun of MUVANLAI produced a prolific bowling performance and enjoyed a fifer (five-wicket haul) for 28 runs in 8 overs.

Khaikhotinlal Haokip was another bowler to watch as he picked up three wickets for 26 runs including the last wicket (Laishram Bhuson Singh).

MUVANLAI's chase however proved disastrous despite Thangtingou's effort (37 off 66 balls) as RCT bowling attack led by Jay (4/34) exerted a strong pressure.

Shibadatta and Gouminlun added 16 and 19 runs respectively to MUVANLAI's tally while other batsmen went out on cheap scores.

Jotish and Denin also shared two wickets each to help RCT earn the win.

Jay of RCT was adjudged man of the match.

MPSC, Manipur Central Jail beat KCC, Kongba Bazar by 35 runs
Elsewhere at Moijing playground, MPSC notched up second group stage win (Group B) beating KCC by 35 runs.

MPSC opted to bat first and gathered 153 runs for 7 in their quota of 35 overs before bowlers restricted KCC to 118 all out in 31 overs.

Kipajan (28 not out), Indraban 24 (24 not out) and Kennedy (21) were significant scorers for MPSC.

KCC's Basantakumar and Sanjit claimed two wickets each in MPSC's innings.

Bijoy Kumar, Kenedy and Gelson picked up two wickets each to rattle the batting line up of KCC to ensure MPSC full points today.

Mranojit with 33 runs was the best the KCC had in the chase which saw Arbin and Basantakumar (not out) adding 17 and 15 runs respectively.
