Imphal, March 26 2017: THAU, Thangmeiband and NEROCA FC registered comfortable victories against their respective opponents today in the ongoing 7th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF football tournament at Khuman Lampak Main stadium.

In the first match, THAU notched a massive 9-1 win over GC GRPF.

Ikon (Shitaljit) scored the bulk (six) of the winning team's goals and did the star turn.

Right from the first whistle, THAU boasted possession and dominated the match.

Kh Prabin handed an early lead to THAU as he slammed home the opener in the 4th minute.

Paojamin of GC CRPF managed to cancel out the lead in the 8th minute.

However, the CPRF men could not prevent the onrush of THAU forwards who were in a scoring spree. Ikon banged in two successive goals in the 41st and 42nd minute while Chingkhei scored one in the 45+1 minute for THAU.

The two teams went to the break with THAU taking an easy 4-1 lead.

After half time, both sides pushed hard to increase their score.

Significantly, THAU forwards sent the CRPF men scurrying for cover as they breached the defence line of the CRPF men five times before the end of the regulation time.

Johnson Laishram netted one goal for THAU in the 66th minute while Ikon (Shitaljit) slotted home three more goals in the 68th, 84th and 90th minute.

N Stalin booted home another goal for the Thangmeiband outfit to wrap the match in style.

The second match of the day saw NEROCA FC registering a convincing 4-0 victory over IWSC, Khumbong.

NEROCA struck two goals each in both halves even as IWSC players ended up scuttling away.

M Govind Singh (17') and Immanuel (33') netted a goal each for NEROCA FC in the first half.

Feuc Chidi (52') and Ng Ronald (73') completed the scoring for the Sangakpham outfit in the second half.

Even as IWSC strikers tried piling pressure in their rivals' goal area, their efforts were easily warded off by NEROCA defenders.
