MU to compete in two competitions at 3rd KIUG

Manipur University (MU) is all set to compete in two disciplines at the 3rd edition of Khelo India University Games (KIUG) .
Uttar Pradesh will be hosting the 21 - discipline games from May 23 to June 2 in five venues.
The games, which was supposed to be held last year but deferred due to some inconveniences, will be participated by universities who topped in various disciplines of the All India Inter University Games (AIIUG) and inter zonal events.
MU have managed to qualify in fencing, women's badminton and women's weightlifting for the games.
However, women lifters will not be participating in the games due to personal reasons.
N Meena of KP College, Ph Anita of BMC, W Sonia of Kakching Khunou College (KKC) and G Priyaluxmi of Oriental College are in the foil team (fencing) who will represent MU at the games after they sealed a gold medal at AIIUG 2022-23 hosted in Jammu.
N Pinky of KKC, Linthoi Haobam of Royal Academy of Law, S Chingkheinganbi of MU and N Nomita of Standard College in the meantime will represent MU in the epee team competition.
They sealed their berth in the KIUG with a silver medal finish at the Jammu event.
S Satish of Regional College, G Viveyekar of Standard College, Th Yishal of Liberal College and Vivek of Standard College will also be represent MU in the men's epee event at the games.
They qualified for the KIUG with a bronze medal finish at the Jammu event.
Besides them, Th Satish and S Chingkheinganbi also qualified for the individual epee event.
Meanwhile, H Velinda of BMC, L Diana of Mangolnganbi College, M Priya of SSGG Girls' College and S Sheetal of BMC will be representing MU in Badminton.
They earned their KIUG berth after securing second place in the East Zone Inter University Badminton Championship 2022-23 held in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
H Velinda also emerged best player in the zonal event.
Notably MU secured 2
gold and a silver medal in fencing besides a bronze medal in athletics (1500 m race) in the second edition of KIUG.
