1st State Open Ranking Table Tennis Championship gets underway

Kakching, October 12 2018: 1st State Open Ranking Table Tennis Championship (Cash Prize) 2018 organised by Kakching District Table Tennis Association (KDTTA) kicked off yesterday at Kakching Chumnang Leikai Indoor Stadium, Kakching.

The inaugural function of the championship was attended by Dr Radheshyam Yumnam, MLA Hiyanglam AC; Md .Fajur Rahim, MLA Wabagai AC; Naorem Sanjitkumar, Chairperson Kakching Municipal Council; Pukhrambam Sanahal Devi, Councillor Kakching Ward no 4 as presidium members.

Ksh Jhalajit Singh, Vice Chairperson Kakching Municipal Council; SP Kakching Victoria Yengkhom and other eminent persons also graced the function.

The championship being organised by Kakching District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of Manipur Table Tennis Association is featuring a total of 132 players including 39 players from Kakching; 36 from Thoubal District Table Tennis Association, 25 from Imphal West, 24 from Imphal East, 4 players of AG, 4 players of MPSC.

The championship which will culminate on Oct 14 .

First Day Match Result
Cadet Boys Singles : Purnachandra Yengkhom of Thoubal carved out a 3-2 sets win over N Siddhart of IE in a cadet boys singles clash.

Purnachandra started poorly to concede the first two sets but managed a strong comeback and sealed the game 6-11, 4-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-7 .

Ronit of Kakching edged over M Restaphen (Tbl) by 11-9, 11-5, 14-12 sets in another match while Ksh Sanathoi of Tbl pulled off a 11-6, 11-3, 11-7 win over Mangal of Kak in the third match.

The fourth match saw, Ksh Nelson of IE defeat M Debraj of Tbl 11-3, 11-6, 11-8 before Ksh Lekhendro of IE outlasted O Meiraba 11-1, 11-1, 11-2 .

Cadet Girls Singles : The first match of the cadet girls singles competition witnessed Diana of Kakching secured a roller-coaster 11-9, 10-12, 14-12,6-11, 12-10 win over Priyadarshini of Kakching while Kh Shushibala of Tbl overcame Malemsana of Kakching 11-5, 3-11, 11-9, 13-11 while Kh Loyalembi Tbl thrashed Rosepriya of Kakching 11-6, 11-4, 11-6.Punshibi of Kakching went over A Tuleshwori of Thoubal 11-5, 11-6, 4-11, 11-3 while H Liya Chanu punished A Velentina 11-6, 11-5, 11-2 in the fifth clash.

Sub-Junior Boys Singles: RK Narman of IE defeated Karim 11-8, 11-9, 11-6 in the first match of the sub-junior boys singles competition while H Samsung of IE sealed an easy 11-3, 11-4, 11-3 win over Krishnanda of Kakching in the second tie.

The third match of the same category saw Thoungamba of Thoubal edged over Amarjit of Kakching 5-11, 11-8, 3-11, 14-12, 13-11 in a hard fought match while L Roshan of Tbl beat Krishnananda of Kakching in straight sets (11-9, 11-3, 11-6) .

Ksh Sanathoi of Tbl overcame W Nganthoiba of IE by 11-8, 11-9, 11-7 sets comfortably in the fifth match.

Sub-Junior Girls Singles: Y Lakhipyari of IE dumped Kh Loyalembi of Tbl 11-1, 11-3, 11-7 in the first match of the sub-junior girls singles competition while H Liya of Tbl drubbed Malemsana of Kak 11-7, 11-5, 11-4 in the second match of the category.

M Deepa of Tbl beat Diana of Kakching 11-4, 11-5, 11-8 in the fourth match while L Bitu of Tbl saw off L Britnia of Kakching 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 in the fifth tie.
