Sun Club sets up Football City for World Cup

Imphal, July 07 2014: Famed Sun Club of Mongsangei has set up a hall of 500 capacity under the name "Football City Mongsangei" for giving the thrill of watching the semi final matches as well as final match of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2014 hosted by Brazil.

The steps have been taken up to avail the real flavors of World Cup to the people of the state on a 35 mm giant screen with the help of projector in the playground of the club.

Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, M.Roshan, general secretary of Sun Club said that, Football City Mongsangei has been set especially for the ensuing World Cup.

But the club has been organising various events for promoting the game of football in Manipur and produced internationally renowned players.

The club had earlier produced famous international footballers like Romoni, Kunjeshwori, Lokeshwori, Binashwori, Ronibala, Bember and Ibeyaima etc.

Among the famed women footballer, Bembem has won the prestigious Footballer of the year award in the year 2014, Roshan said.

The club will also provide snacks and water to everyone who comes to watch the matches at its Football City, Roshan informed, while appealing to all to come and witness sporting extravaganza.

Despite its poor financial position of the club, Football City Mongsangei has been set up to help the people to watch matches of the World Cup without any hindrance or interruption.

People who come to the club are extending monetary help to the club towards organizing the show, he disclosed.

On the other hand, publicity secretary of popular football team NEROCA, Sangakpham has informed that the football club has completed all works for screening the semi final and final matches of the World Cup at its ground on big screen.

He also appealed to all well-wishers of the football club to come and watch the show together as one.
