Imphal, December 10 2015:
As part of its ongoing drive against unwanted activities in restaurants, Kanglei Chanu Kanba Lup (KCKL) volunteers conducted a drive in and around Tiddim Road and found 10 couples at Miranda restaurant, Nambol Maibam Chingmang and they were let off with warning.
However, the volunteers came under heavy attack from the guards deployed outside the restaurant as they attacked them with sticks and in the ensuing melee, the volunteers of KCKL were beaten badly.
The guards did not even spare the auto rikshaw which was hired by the KCKL volunteers and the body and hood of the vehicle was torn to shreds, according to a press release issued by the general secretary of KCKL.
For this very act of vandalism by the guards, the manager of the restaurant, Laishram Boy Singh has been asked to come to the office of KCKL, New Checkon near traffic point on December 11 at 1 pm, failing which more stringent action will taken against him, it said.
