AR-village chairmen meet

Imphal, January 27, 2011:
Officers of 11 Assam Rifles, posted at four strategic locations in Tamenglong district participated at an interaction session with village chairmen, elders and public leaders at the battalion headquarters of the Assam Rifles today.
The meeting was attended by 60 leaders of different villagers under the coverage of 11 AR.
The interaction session on relationships between the security forces and general public was participated by Second in-command of 11 AR Lt Col Karmendar Kumar, Maj K Kapoor, Maj Sandeep Joshi, Maj Yogesh Kumar, Maj Biswas Kumar and Capt S Dey.
The officers highlighted projects already taken up as well as those to be implemented by the 11 AR in the area under the Military Civic Action programme.
Future endeavours, according to the AR officers, include excursion for womenfolk to Shillong and Tura in Meghalaya, excursion of school children to New Delhi and Jodhpur, rearing of goats and pigs, provision of solar lanterns and lighting system and opening of a computer centre.
Among others, the Assam Rifles unit has already organised pre-recruitment training and Hindi-speaking courses.
